Under his leadership, the name Stahl has become synonymous worldwide with quality, durability, and an unusually flexible interpretation of environmental law. He shows little patience for bureaucratic restriction and openly opposes Dr. Roach's apocalyptic ambitions.

Real Name: Eva Averanda — "The Widow of Seventeen"

Known publicly by her stage name "Verena Callas," her true identity is Eva Averanda. She leverages fame, charm, and social access to influence society at the highest levels. Following the mysterious death of her seventeenth husband, she emerged inexplicably wealthy, acquiring ownership of multiple theaters and newspaper presses across three continents.

Her effectiveness lies in the ruthless manipulation of media — allowing her to destroy reputations and careers without direct involvement. Despite extensive intelligence efforts, her personal history remains fragmented, contradictory, or entirely absent.

An agent was dispatched to track her down in order to gain intelligence on Dr. Roach's South American operation. The two met in a city filled with secrets. Callas attempted to kill the agent.

Designation: Agent Valentine. Recovered following a vehicle collision resulting in near-total memory loss. Subsequent evaluation revealed advanced linguistic ability, adaptive behavior, and an exceptional capacity to assimilate into civilian populations without detection.

Recruited by intelligence services after operating independently beyond formal systems. The pursuit of an individual known as Dr. Roach predates official assignment — suggesting Valentine had a prior connection to the Omniflux affair that has never been formally explained.

Before the Great War, Dr. Roach discovered a rare natural transistor material — an extraordinary semiconductor with unique quantum properties. It existed simultaneously as both a 1 and a 0, deciding its true state only when observed. This uncertainty gave it unprecedented semi-conductive behavior, enabling it to interact with reality in ways no known physics could predict.

When Roach harnessed this material, his experiments fractured his existence across multiple timelines and realities — splintering him into alternate versions of himself trapped in parallel worlds. The fracture unleashed chaos, warping time and space. It is the birth of every mysterious technology and phenomenon players will encounter.

After fracturing across multiple realities, Roach was eventually captured in 2045 by a researcher who had learned to study and stabilize the material's effects, effectively imprisoning him in that timeline. He broke free. Landing in 1934 with only a single piece of that rare semiconductor on his person — and the knowledge of a century of future technology — he plans to stay and reshape history on his own terms.

After the war, Roach fled to South America, where he began developing an interdimensional doorway: the Eldritch Nexus. The project is powered by Omniflux — an extremely volatile and unstable element that most governments remain entirely unaware of.

Often described as the most powerful man no one can name, Grey shows little loyalty to ideology or nation. Publicly, Solomon Grey is unremarkable — his name absent from speeches and headlines alike. Privately, he is understood to be the orchestrator of diplomatic affairs in Europe and across the globe.

Empires fall, ideologies collapse, and leaders are replaced, but systems endure if designed correctly. His efforts are not devoted to ruling the world, but to ensuring he has a hand in shaping the future of whatever comes next.

It was Grey who received Dr. Roach after German intelligence discovered the rogue scientist in the Iraqi desert in 1934. His illicit research was forcibly extracted under Grey's oversight — triggering a rapid and catastrophic shift in European history.

Phenomena — Classified Material

Omniflux & The Eldritch Nexus

Omniflux is the common designation for the rare natural semiconductor material first isolated by Dr. Roach prior to the Great War. Its quantum properties are without precedent: the material exists simultaneously in two binary states, resolving to a definite value only at the moment of observation. This observer-dependent behavior allows it to interact with computational and physical systems in ways that conventional physics cannot model.

Roach's early experiments with Omniflux produced the first primitive artificial intelligence constructs — systems capable of adapting to input in ways their designers did not anticipate. They also fractured Roach's own existence across multiple timelines, scattering alternate versions of him across parallel realities.

Origins of the Occult War

The conventional history of the Second World War is accurate as far as it goes. What it omits is the parallel conflict — older, stranger, and in some estimations, more consequential — that began decades earlier and used the visible war as its theatre.

The earliest documented occult incident associated with the coming conflict dates to 1933. A research station in the Bavarian Alps, operating under ambiguous government sponsorship, recorded a contact event that killed four personnel and left two others permanently altered in ways that medical science could not categorize.

The station's files were classified by five different government agencies across three countries. All five copies were later destroyed. What survives are the personal notes of a surviving researcher, hidden inside the binding of an unremarkable agricultural almanac, discovered in a Munich estate sale in 1987.
